SUMMARY:South Australia quarterly luncheon March 2025
DESCRIPTION:The South Australian division of the Naval Officers Association of Australia held its quarterly lunch at the Naval & Military & Air Force Club on 28th March 2025. The guest speaker was Chief Petty Officer Yeoman Reg Swanborough RN Rtd\, age 102! \nBob Pritchard introduced CPO Swanborough as follows: Swannie enlisted in the RN in July\, 1938 at the age of 15 as\, what was known back then\, a Boy Recruit. He then progressed to the communication school where he learnt his trade as a Yeoman. He was subsequently posted to HM ships in the Mediterranean and then to anti-submarine duties in the Atlantic where he served with the famous CAPT Walker. DESCRIPTION:No finer setting for a NSW Division signature event – the Parliament House Christmas Lunch.  \nThe Strangers’ Dining Room has been used by the NOC for 18 years for one of the main events and attendance levels are invariably high thanks to the setting\, the excellent food and beverage service. \nDrinks on arrival\, followed by a three course Christmas themed luncheon supported by beverages of choice. \nThe NOC’s Parliamentary host will be Hon Anthony Roberts MLA and there will be a guest speaker of note.  The event is supported by the Navy band. \nCost $100.  Partners and guests of members always welcome.  Make up a table of  up to 10 or nominate seating preferences when booking.   \nDress – jacket & tie.
