Hosts conferences and publishes a range of RAN-related learned papers and publications.

Australian Fleet Air Arm Association 
Australia-wide association of serving and retired Australian Fleet Air Arm personnel. Publishes a quarterly “Slipstream” magazine and supports theFleet Air Arm Museum.

Australian Naval History Podcasts
Each episode tells of a different event in the RAN’s rich history. It brings together naval historians, serving and former officers and sailors to both give account and analyse the topic in a conversational style.   The series is produced in partnership by Australian Naval Institute, the Naval Studies Group at the University of New South Wales (Canberra), the Royal Australian Navy Seapower Centre, the Naval Historical Society and the Submarine Institute of Australia to produce the Australian Naval History podcast series. 

Australian Naval Association 
The Australian Naval Association aims unite and develop friendship among all former and serving naval personnel eligible for membership, and to promote and assist activities in the wider community to improve health and well being of the community of which former and serving naval personnel are a part.

Armed Services Assistance Centre 
ASAC offices are staffed by volunteers from various ex-service organisations. Advocates do not receive payment for their services from either the Department of Veteran Affairs (DVA) or any other Government Department, but have completed Training and Information Program courses, funded and coordinated by the DVA.

Defence Forces Welfare Association
The Defence Force Welfare Association is an Australia-wide organisation that aims to promote and protect the interests of serving and former members of the Australian Defence Force and their families.

Inspector General ADF Support Services
Access to support services for individuals and families potentially impacted by the IGADF Afghanistan Inquiry or other IGADF Inquiries.  The web page details a range of services for those contacted or impacted by an IG Inquiry. 

Naval Historical Society of Australia
The Naval Historical Society of Australia has extensive research and reading facilities and provides research assistance.  It publishes a quarterly Review journal. It also arranges tours of Garden Island NSW.

HMAS Sydney and Vietnam Logistics Veterans 
For all those who served onboard all HMAS Sydneys, their destroyer escorts, also Jeparit and Boonaroo during the Vietnam conflict. The site includes FESR personnel and for all those who have an interest in that particular era of Australia’s history.

League of Ancient Mariners of NSW
Our aim is to preserve the tradition of seafarers and to promote and engender camaraderie of those who served as Masters and Ship Officers of the Merchant Navies of the World and the Australian and New Zealand Defence Forces, who have served at sea, or who through their duties of logistics have an equal affiliation with the sea.

HMAS WATSON Chapel

The HMAS Watson Chapel is available for Weddings, Baptisms and Funerals for all current and former members of the Australian Defence Force and their family members. Moreover, in keeping with the our aim in supporting the welfare of families, the financial cost of hiring the HMAS Watson Chapel is significantly lower then the amounts charged by Sydney’s surburban Churches.

 Australian National Maritime Museum
Australians are closely linked to the sea through commerce, defence, exploration, adventure, sport and play. Our oceans and waterways have influenced our development…and who we are.  The museum captures these themes with fascinating artifacts, lively exhibitions, fun activities and even the chance to board ships and experience life on the water.

James Craig, sailing ship 
James Craig is a proud member of the Sydney Heritage Fleet, an 1874 three-masted barque reclaimed from lying as a wreck in Tasmania and restored to near-mint condition. The ship is open to visitors and sails regularly on passenger-carrying day-long voyages.

Overseas naval links

Tailhook Association 
An association of all those who support naval aviation and aircraft carriers. Tailhook publishes a popular quarterly magazine, hosts an annual reunion and supports community-wide endeavours, including the Tailhook Educational Foundation Scholarships that funded 85 new students in 2009.

 USNI (Proceedings) 
The UNSI provides an independent forum to advance the professional, literary, and scientific understanding of sea power and other issues critical to national defense.

National Air and Space Museum, Washington DC
The Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum has a comprehensive museum, including an IMAX theatre, in the National Mall, Washington DC, and another, the Stephen F Udvar-Hazy Centre near Dulles Airport in Virginia. The official name of the Museum is “National Air and Space Museum’s Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center.”  They usually use that the first time, and then say “Udvar-Hazy Center,” “Center,” or “Museum.”

  • The travel time between the Center and the Museum in Washington, DC, can vary, depending on the time and day (rush hour).  It is30 miles (48 km)
  •  Public transportation is available.  Visitors can catch the Fairfax Connector bus at the Wiehle/Reston East Metro station (silver line) or Dulles Airport.  Buses run every 20 minutes.  We are the perfect “last stop” for travelers flying out of Dulles Airport.
  • The Center now has nearly 300 aircraft on display and nearly 3,000 artifacts in total.
  • Space Shuttle Enterprise is now part of the Intrepid Museum’s collection (New York City).  The Center now has Space Shuttle Discovery.  Considered to be the “workhorse” of the shuttle fleet, Discovery completed 39 missions and spent a combined total of 365 days in space.
  • The Center has also moved much of our conservation/collections work to the Udvar-Hazy Center.  Visitors can observe the works in progress from an overlook above the Mary Baker Engen Restoration Hangar.  The first project to be completed in the Hangar was a Curtis SB2C-5 Helldiver.

Skyhawk Association 
The Skyhawk Association is an affiliation of individuals who have flown, maintained, (or who simply love) the A-4 Skyhawk; and who are dedicated to the perpetuation of the legend, history, traditions, and camaraderie associated with the greatest attack aircraft ever built.

USS Intrepid Museum 
The USS Intrepid (CV-11), one of the most active of all the WW II Essex class carriers, with the scars to prove it, is back again alongside West Side Pier 86, near 42nd St, New York, after a thorough refit that cost $60 million.

BRNC, Dartmouth 
The Britannia Association serves alumni who have served either as wardroom staff officers or undergone training at Britannia Royal Naval College. In effect it represents the provision of a network of the ‘alumni’ of the Officer Corp over the past 90 years and will extend into the future.

Association of Royal Navy Officers 
ARNO was formed in 1920 with the principal objective of recovering retired pay that was withheld from naval officers who had been recalled to service in WW I. The Association was re-constituted in 1925 and has evolved over the years to meet the changing needs of the members. Today ARNO has over 8,000 members.
